Product Overview
The Tap-Off 1 way (Tap Off 1 way) FRACARRO TAPS120 is a professional-grade, 1-output horizontal directional tap utilizing a "top-down" installation configuration and standard F-connectors. Operating across an ultra-wideband frequency spectrum of 5-2400MHz, this device is fully equipped to handle Return Channel, digital terrestrial television (TV), and satellite (SAT) distribution systems.
Technical Characteristics & Specifications
- Tap Attenuation (Tap Loss): It features a stable, flat attenuation of -20dB across all frequency bands (5-2400MHz). This high tap loss means it taps off only a small portion of the main signal line, making it perfect for areas with high signal intensity.
- Lowest Insertion Loss in the Series: The main signal backbone experiences minimal degradation, with an insertion loss of only -1dB in the Return Channel and TV bands, and peaking at just -2.5dB at the highest satellite frequencies (2150-2400MHz). This ensures maximum signal power is preserved to travel down the trunk line.
- Maximum Port Isolation: It delivers the highest isolation figures in the series, offering an outstanding $39\text{ dB}$ for the Return Channel band, 29dB for the TV band, and a steady 25dB for satellite bands. This effectively eliminates any potential return noise or crosstalk interference from bleeding back into the main system.
- Premium & Shielded Construction: Crafted from robust die-cast zinc, the casing provides exceptional electromagnetic shielding (RFI/EMI protection). Its elegant and compact structure (55x64x27mm.) fits effortlessly into standard wall-mounted junction boxes and includes dedicated provisions for wall mounting and a secure ground/earth connection.
- DC Pass-Through Configuration: Direct current (DC) is permitted to flow continuously between the through output and the input to power upstream devices such as an LNB. The tap port itself is entirely DC-blocked to guarantee user safety and protect end-user equipment.
Applications
With its high -20dB tap loss and exceptionally low through-line insertion loss, the TAPS120 is heavily utilized in multi-dwelling units (MDUs) such as high-rise condominiums, apartments, and hotels:
- Top-Floor or Near-Headend Distribution (Backbone Entry Points): In multi-story cascade networks where signals travel downwards from the roof, the signal is at its highest strength on the upper floors. The TAPS120 is intentionally placed on these top floors or close to the main amplifier. It safely draws a small, attenuated signal (-20dB) for local apartment viewing while allowing the vast majority of the pristine backbone signal to pass straight through to lower floors without losing vital energy.
- System Equalization (Balanced Networking): This unit works as the starting tier in building distribution systems. For instance, in a 3-level setup, you would install a TAPS120 (-20dB) on the top floor, a TAPS115 (-15dB) on the middle floor, and a TAPS110 (-10dB) on the bottom floor. This layout equalizes cable attenuation, ensuring that a TV on the bottom floor receives the exact same signal quality as a TV on the top floor.
- High-Isolation Residential Tap-offs: Thanks to its superior output isolation, this unit serves as a robust firewall. It ensures that any electrical faults, short-circuits, or feedback noise coming from a consumer's set-top box or television inside a specific room are entirely trapped at the tap port and cannot compromise the stability or signal clarity of the entire building’s shared trunk infrastructure.
