The Zyxel PMG5622GA is a next-generation dual-band wireless Home Gateway Unit (HGU) featuring RF overlay support for CATV services.
It complies with GPON ITU-T G.984.x standards and IEEE 802.11 ac/n Wi-Fi, providing ultra-high-speed fiber internet access. It includes four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, two FXS ports for VoIP, one USB 2.0 port, and one coaxial output for CATV. The device also supports dual-band Wi-Fi with 2x2 11ac and 2x2 11n configurations for reliable wireless coverage.
The ultra-slim design, with a height of only 32 mm and brushed finish, makes the PMG5622GA not only a high-performance fiber gateway but also a stylish addition to any modern home interior.
In recent years, the demand for high-speed broadband has grown dramatically, particularly for video streaming. This surge has revealed the limitations of legacy DOCSIS technology, where only a small portion of bandwidth is left for high-speed internet (HSI), leading to higher per-bit costs compared to GPON networks.
Moreover, upgrading from DOCSIS 3.0 to 3.1 requires replacing both CMTS and modems, rebuilding the upstream network capacity, and reassigning licensed frequencies. This process involves significant cost, time, and potential service disruption.
