Product Overview
The Tap-Off 2way (Tap Off 2 way) TAPS212 is a professional-grade, 2-output horizontal directional tap designed with a compact top-down installation setup and standard F-connectors. Operating within an ultra-wideband frequency spectrum of 5 to 2400 MHz, this device is fully equipped to distribute Return Channel, digital terrestrial television (TV), and satellite (SAT) signals in building distribution systems.

Technical Characteristics & Specifications
- 2-Output Configuration: It features 2 separate subscriber tap ports, allowing you to feed two different apartments or devices from a single unit.
- 12 dB Constant Tap Attenuation: It delivers a stable, flat attenuation of 12 dB across all frequency bands from 5 to 2400 MHz. This moderate attenuation level efficiently extracts a healthy amount of signal for the connected users.
- Insertion Loss: The main signal backbone experiences an insertion loss of 3 dB in the Return Channel and TV bands, 3.5 to 4 dB in the mid-satellite bands, and reaches a maximum of 5 dB at the highest satellite frequencies between 2150 and 2400 MHz.
- High Output Isolation: It offers high port isolation, protecting the system with 25 dB for the Return Channel and TV bands, and 21 to 22 dB for the satellite bands. This prevents cross-talk or interference between the two connected apartments.
- Premium Metal Construction: Crafted from robust die-cast zinc, the housing provides exceptional electromagnetic shielding against external interference. Its compact size of 55 x 64 x 27 millimeters fits effortlessly into standard wall-mounted junction boxes. It also includes dedicated provisions for wall mounting and a secure ground or earth connection.
- DC Pass-Through Configuration: Direct current (DC) is permitted to flow continuously exclusively between the through output and the main input to power upstream devices such as a satellite LNB. The two subscriber tap outlets are entirely DC-blocked to guarantee user safety.

Applications
With its dual-output configuration and relatively low 12 dB tap loss, the TAPS212 is heavily utilized in multi-dwelling units (MDUs) like apartments and hotels under the following scenarios:

- Lower-Floor or Near End-of-Line Distribution: In multi-story cascade networks where signals travel downwards from the roof, the signal becomes progressively weaker by the time it reaches the lower floors. The TAPS212 (12 dB) is intentionally placed on these lower floors or toward the end of the trunk line. Because its tap loss is low, it efficiently extracts a stronger share of the remaining signal to feed two adjacent rooms, ensuring excellent picture quality for both.
- System Equalization for Dual-Room Layouts: This unit acts as the perfect closing tier for buildings designed with side-by-side apartments. Installers can achieve perfect signal balancing by using a TAPS220 (20 dB) on the high-signal top floors, a TAPS215 (15 dB) on the middle floors, and the TAPS212 (12 dB) on the lower floors. This structure ensures that every single apartment receives identical signal strength regardless of its floor level.
- Isolated Electrical Firewalls for Tenants: Because DC pass-through is strictly blocked at the subscriber tap ports, this device behaves as an electrical shield. If a set-top box inside one apartment experiences a severe voltage spike or a short circuit, the hazard is trapped at the tap port. It cannot bleed back into the building's central infrastructure or cause signal degradation on the neighbor's television.
