What is MATV centralized TV system?
Centralized TV system MATV SMATV CATV IPTV : Part 2
Centralized MATV (Master Antenna Television) system is a process of receiving TV signals within a building from a single terrestrial antenna, then distributing these signals comprehensively to multiple television points throughout the building. This system is ideal for apartment complexes, hotels, resorts, condominiums, apartments, flats, dormitories, or office buildings that want to provide basic TV channels to residents or users. The objective is to ensure that every viewing point within the building receives clear and consistent picture and sound quality.Analog TV systems were the original systems used before 2011. They offered inconsistent signal quality, potentially resulting in "snowy" images when the signal was weak or interference lines when the signal was too strong. This system can still be found in some older buildings today, and most TVs in Thailand still support analog viewing.
2. Digital MATV System
Digital TV systems began to be implemented in 2011 under the supervision of the NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission). The purpose was to maximize the efficient use of frequency bands, for example, by allocating certain spectrums to mobile telecommunication services (LTE/4G/5G). This digital system provides consistently sharp images at every point, regardless of signal strength variations, and can even be viewed when the signal level is low.
Digital TV Channel Structure in Thailand:
The terrestrial digital channel plan is determined by the NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission). The plan originally stipulated a total of 48 channels, divided into two groups:
However, due to changes in technology and media consumption behavior, there are currently approximately 20 digital TV channels actually broadcasting.
